Fun Facts

We discovered today some fun facts about the English language. Know some more?

- The word "triskaidekaphobia" means "fear of Friday the 13th". It also means "superstition about the number thirteen" in general;
- The word "Checkmate" in chess comes from the Persian phrase "Shah Mat" meaning "the king is helpless";
- "Angry" and "Hungry" are the only two words that end with "-gry";
- The longest word in the English language, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis;
- The dot on top of the letter "i" is called "tittle";
- No words in the English language rhyme with orange, silver or purple
